English Language

About the Programme

The Faculty of Law and Business Studies Dr. Lazar Vrkatić was accredited as a higher education institution in the first accreditation cycle in 2008. The undergraduate academic studies in the English Language study programme were accredited in 2008, and the master academic studies in 2010. The English Language study programme was re-accredited in 2014.

The programme and its curriculum are designed to provide students with knowledge and skills that enable them to perform oral and written translation, as well to teach English. During the course of the study, students gain language competence at C2 level, master the English language grammar, build general and specific vocabulary, acquire business communication skills (oral and written), learn the techniques of written scientific, professional and official translation, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge in teaching methodology and pedagogical psychology. In addition, our students also have courses in the field of ESP (English for Specific Purposes), that is, the English language in the field of law and business, which is especially important for professional advancement and a successful career. Our programme is the only one in Serbia that includes such courses in this field. Students also acquire the necessary knowledge in the field of English literature, civilization and culture, which complements their future competence in the field of English language.

We are proud of our graduate students of BA an MA studies. They now work in elementary and secondary education as teachers of English, in banks and companies as translators, some have established their own private schools, and some have decided to continue their academic career at master or doctoral studies in Serbia and abroad. Many present students, and future professors, are able to use modern information technologies and hold online lectures to students living at home and abroad, which has become a worldwide trend. There is a high demand for all the above mentioned jobs in the present times, and this trend will certainly carry on in the future.

Lectures are held by competent professors and associates, as well as by top practitioners. Teaching takes place in small groups, in a pleasant atmosphere. We are particularly proud of the close and friendly relationships we have established with our current and former students.
