About the Programme

The Master Psychotherapy Programme expands on the knowledge and skills obtained in the Business Psychology undergraduate programme. Students are introduced to psychotherapy theories and trained in the application of psychotherapeutic skills. In addition, students are trained for professional practice and scientific research in the field of psychotherapy. Students are also qualified to continue their education at the doctoral level.

Practical work involves visits to health care and social service institutions, criminal justice institutions, and psychotherapy colleges and institutes.

Why enrol at the Psychotherapy study programme?

Because students can:

  • Acquire knowledge about different psychotherapy theories and schools;
  • Learn and understand research methods in psychotherapy;
  • Acquire skills for professional, autonomous and responsible practice in the field of psychotherapy;
  • Develop psychotherapist competencies (psychotherapy, psychological contracting, ethics, psychological assessment and diagnosis, techniques and interventions, dealing with trauma and crisis, therapy completion and evaluation, use of supervision, etc.);
  • Learn from teachers with long-term experience in psychotherapy and education of young psychotherapists;
  • Continue their education at doctoral studies.

Careers

Domains of work:

Psychotherapy and counselling, which includes both prevention and intervention:

  • Social work (social work administration, homes for children without parental care, homes for elderly, homes for children with special needs, pre-school counselling centres, child and women protection services, etc.);
  • In the field of health sector (health care institutions, general hospitals, mental health institutes, psychiatric departments, psychiatric hospitals, development counselling centres, pregnancy counselling centres, etc.);
  • Education (preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, counselling centres for students, counselling for children and young people);
  • Criminal justice system (penal institutions, correctional facilities, prison hospitals, etc.);
  • Other related areas (police, military, media, industry, etc.).

Scientific research in the field of psychology and psychotherapy:

  • Research projects at training institutes, faculties, etc. where graduates can apply their knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methodology.

Scientific research in the field of psychology and psychotherapy:

  • Lecturer at psychotherapeutic training institutions, in non-governmental and government organizations, state education system, etc.
